San Antonio, TX Orthodontist Dr. Robert 'Tito' Norris Pays Out 3X His Weight in Cash for Candy for Military Troops
Stone Oak Orthodontics buys back 37,031 pieces of Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude, the USO and Wounded Warriors.
SAN ANTONIO, TX, November 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Who says you're worth your weight in gold? At Stone Oak Orthodontics in San Antonio, TX, orthodontist Dr Robert "Tito" Norris is worth more than three times his weight in Halloween candy! Sweetly breaking last year's record, Dr. Tito Norris and his staff collected 529 pounds of candy from generous patients and their friends as part of Dr Tito's Halloween candy buyback program. All 529 pounds of candy are being distributed to our troops through three military service organizations: Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.com), the USO (www.USO.org) and Wounded Warriors (www.woundedwarriorporject.org) programs.
For each pound of candy collected, Dr Tito donated two dollars. One dollar went to each donator and another dollar went directly to support our troops.
Just how much is 529 pounds of candy? According to Dr Tito and his staff, the entire office has been engulfed in candy.
"We collected over 37, 031 pieces of candy and it's everywhere," said Dr Norris. "First, it filled up all of our bins to hold our Invisalign boxes. Now we have candy up to our fish tanks. We are literally swimming in candy!"
Having served as an officer in the Air Force, Dr. Norris looks for ways to support the troops anytime he can. Last year, Dr. Norris and Stone Oak Orthodontics collected and donated his weight in candy. This year, he found himself up to his elbows in chocolate and other sticky goodies.
"We are so thankful for this incredible out pouring of generosity from our patients and their friends. Halloween is always a little tricky for our patients. We really urge them to make smart decisions when it comes to eating sticky, sugary treats. Candy Buyback is a way to still enjoy Halloween, plus leave a sweet taste in the mouths of our troops," added Dr Norris.
All 37,031 pieces of candy will be on display at Stone Oak Orthodontics, 18720 Stone Oak Parkway, Suite 207, San Antonio, Texas 78258, www.stoneoakortho.com through Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011. Then collected confections will be shipped off to Operation Gratitude, the USO and Wounded Warriors.
